Websites of artists and places we admire
Strange Attractor Theatre Co.
With ensemble members based in Providence, Philadelphia and Juneau, these Lecoq-based artists create original, physically-devised work, and include fellow travelers Rebecca Noon and Jed Hancock-Brainerd.
The Wilbury Group
This group has quickly become a prolific producer of theater in Rhode Island, and is the brain-child of Josh Short, who appeared in one of our short play festivals in Tiverton in 2005. We like to say we knew him when.
The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre
Founded as Alias Stage in 1984 by seven Trinity Rep Conservatory grads, The Gamm is a local treasure.
2nd Story Theatre
Ed Shea, who taught our Directing class at the Trinity Rep Conservatory, is the dynamo behind this great theater in Warren, RI.
Improv Jones
Celebrating its 20th year this year, IJ features ETC founder Dave Rabinow as well as fellow travelers Melissa Bowler and Casey Seymour-Kim. Mauro Hantman, a Trinity Rep company member, was also a TRC graduate and has been with IJ since its inception.
Manton Avenue Project
A brilliant organization that teaches playwriting to students in Olneyville here in Providence. "Through playmaking, we unleash the unique potential and carve a path to success in the hearts of kids." Every single member of ETC has volunteered with MAP.
Providence Improv Guild (PIG)
A brand new venture, PIG is dedicated to building a community of improvisers in Providence, and is partnering with the equally awesome Southside Cultural Center, located at Trinity Square Methodist Church, where Trinity Rep was born.
AS220
I love this: their website says "AS220 is part Incubator and part Bazaar. We also build new audiences and infrastructure for artists to stimulate the cultural mulch in Rhode Island." That about sums it up. A Rhode Island institution.
95 Empire Black Box
AS220's newest limb, 95 Empire is a flexible black box space and performance school housed in the former home of the late great Perishable Theatre. ETC has been lucky to call it home for ten of our productions. Run by the indefatigable Ric Royer.
Kate Huot
Kate designed our posters for Go.Go 5 and Vacancy. This is a link to her Etsy page.
Atelier LKS
Laura K. Sorensen designed our poster for King Stag, and is a frequent actor over at 2nd Story Theatre.
Fiasco Theater
Founded by 2007 grads of the Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Program, these artist do great work and also offer free professional acting classes as part of their core mission. Keeping the faith.
Fault Line Theatre
Another group of Brown/Trinity Rep MFA grads, these ones were actually students of D'Arcy, so she is especially proud. Artistic Director Aaron Rossini was in our production of King Stag in 2007.
Pig Iron Theatre Company
This "dance-clown-theatre ensemble" based in Philly was founded in 1995, and they create new and exuberant performance works that defy easy categorization. They graduated from L’École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, where D'Arcy studied for a year, and frankly, they just kick ass. Check them out.
