A Reading Series by Elemental Theatre Collective.

Join Elemental Theatre as we take a behind-the-scenes peek into the challenging world of playwriting!

Bare Stages: New Plays in Various States of Undress is a reading series focusing on works-in-progress from local playwrights.

Elemental approached four local playwrights: Lawrence Goodman (Huntington Theatre Playwriting Fellow), Steve Kidd (Resident Actor and Education Director at the Gamm Theatre), Katie Hughes (Resident Artist at Elemental), and Dave Rabinow (ETC founding member and award-winning playwright) and asked them to bring a piece to the table that they were struggling with.

Why do this? Simple. We at Elemental Theatre believe that sometimes the great plays of tomorrow come out of great struggle. Sometimes the pieces that a playwright gets obsessed with, but can’t figure out, are the very pieces that need attention and encouragement. Thus was born the Bare Stages series.

These are not perfect plays. We don’t want perfect plays. We want obsessions. We want mess. We want ideas that wake you up at 3:30 in the morning. Come be a part of tomorrow’s new plays being made today!
